BACKSTREET COMES
TO YOUR LIVING ROOM:
The Backstreet Boys' first ever network
television special will be broadcast on May 30 on CBS, said a network spokesperson. |
| The special, called "Backstreet
Boys: Larger Than Life," is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
The one-hour program will feature footage
from BSB's performance at Los
Angeles'Staples Center earlier this year.
The special will also include
never-before-seen clips of their early
days and exclusive moments from their
"Around the World in 100 promotional tour.
In addition to all this behind-the-scenes
footage, many of the Backstreet Boys' hit songs will be featured, including
"Larger Than Life," "I Want It That Way" and "Everybody" (Backstreet's
Back). |
Despite the fact that the movie isn't
even finished yet, the makers of "The
Lord of the Rings" threw a party at the Cannes Film Festival
to celebrate the fantasy flick. Most of the film's stars were there, including
Liv Tyler, Elijah Wood and Orland Bloom. The decorations were the real
attraction though. The bar was six feet high, so that when you went up
to it you felt just like a tiny hobbit, and the original sets from the
film were flown in to give the fiesta a fantasy feel. Plus, there were
extras walking around in full costume to give the party that "Middle Earth"
vibe.
Sounds pretty awesome. Perhaps this shindig
will start a new prom theme trend: A
Night of Glamour and Gnomes. |

IN
TEARS:
A British report out today says that Christina
Aguilera burst into tears when she saw the size of her room at Monte Carlo's
super-duper-luxury hotel Hermitage. The diva was in the tiny municipality
to attend yesterday's 2001 World Music Awards ceremony. (She took home
the award for "World's best selling Latin female artist.") |

WHO'S
NEXT?
As part of the recent (seemingly never
ending) barrage of celebs and their drug probs/arrests, yesterday Shannen
Doherty pleaded no contest to charges of Driving Under the Influence and
to having refused to submit to a blood test at the time.
The ex-90210 star was arrested last December
when officers spotted her Ford pickup truck weaving on a Los Angeles freeway
-- turns out she had a blood alcohol level of .13% -- 5 points higher than
the legal limit.
The 30 year-old actress, who currently
stars as one of the three Charmed sisters, faces 48 hours behind bars or
a work release program (much like the one her ex TVbro, Jason Priestly
did as part of his DUI sentence.)
Shannen's due to be sentenced on June 12th. |
